Registration

What's the deal with cut offs?

We must have a maximum time, or cut off, to ensure safety - and we must comply with agreements with landowners, hired workers, and more.
For example, we can't keep Norwegian People's Aid around the clock either. We rent them for a fixed period of time.

Check when the food stations you pass close. If you don't make it, you won't reach the finish line.
If you arrive when the station is cleared, you are out of the race.

We will clear the finish area at 8pm, then we will pack up completely. However, the timing mat will be open until 8:30pm, which is the last deadline to register your time.

If you can't make it to the maximum time, you've probably signed up for a distance that's too long for you - so long...

Remember to have a fully charged mobile phone (mandatory for ultra-distances) - you must send a text message if you break the race or if you realize you won't make the cut off.
The mobile number is on the starting number.

You will then get a DNF on the results list. DNF is Did Not Finish.

Start, support, goal

Where are the toilets?

We rent toilets for the starting areas, which are also food stations for longer distances that pass through these.

Otherwise, there are no toilets along the trail. Bring toilet paper if you have a nervous stomach!

Always carry some toilet paper with you.

If you have to defecate during the race, step off the path and cover it with heather/moss/soil when you are finished.
It is not allowed to relieve yourself in other people's gardens!

There are toilets at the finish line.

Start, support, goal

SUPPORT: WHAT AND WHERE IS LAW AND NOT LAW?

Any form of support (shoe change, food, etc.) is only allowed at the food/drink stations. If you receive support outside of the drink/food stations, it is cheating and disqualification.
It is not allowed to have "hare" without a start number, or friends without a start number running with you.

Corporate teams are also not allowed to set up their own drinking stations.

If you want to change shoes between stations, you must carry your shoes with you throughout the race. There are no drop bag points.

Start, support, goal

Why do I have to provide an estimated time in my registration?

To be able to do a flow analysis before the race. Both for safety and to provide information to officials when they can expect a pressure...

It has nothing to do with pool starts. Pool starts were only during covid. But in the starting areas, the announcer will still ask the fastest to start first to avoid queues. A few minute start intervals, informal.

The trail

Are there photographers on the trail?

Yes, at several nice points on the course. They take pictures of all the runners. That is, if you don't have your start number in front, it won't be possible for you to look up pictures of yourself. (However, it is mandatory to have your start number in front, for safety reasons, among other things)

The photos are taken by Sportograf, and they will be available within 24-48 hours after the race.

We use some of the images in our channels. If you do not want your image to be used by us, please contact us!

In addition, we have our own video team, who has a good plan for the day :-)

There are also other hired photographers who take atmospheric photos in the start and finish areas.

The trail

Where are the support stations and what is served there?

It depends on what distance you run.

And soon you will receive more information about what applies to Ecotrail Bergen!

The trail

Where can I pick up lost belongings?

Information about Lost and Found for Bergen is coming soon.

Start, support, goal

Why are start numbers not sent to the start areas?

WE have Print on Demand. This means that we rent special machines that print your start number only when you pick it up. It is more environmentally friendly than pre-printed numbers that have to be packed in envelopes and transported in boxes.
The machines cannot be spread out across all the starting areas on race day.

The only exception is 80km. Uncollected start numbers on Friday at 7 pm before race day will be printed out and taken to the start area on Saturday morning.

Via the menu on this website you can read more about starting number distribution, click "starting number distribution".

Registration

What kind of shoes are best suited for Ecotrail Bergen?

It all depends on what distance you are going to run.
And what the conditions are like. Will it be wet, will it be dry?

If you are going to run 10km you don't need off-road shoes. That route is on gravel and asphalt. The other distances will go through several sections of technical trail, and maybe slippery roots if it is wet.
All distances will be run on gravel and asphalt for the last 5 km.

Otherwise, the other distances have a mix of gravel roads, asphalt, trails and technical trails. If it's dry, it's perfectly fine to run with a "road-oriented" shoe.

If it's wet, it's good to have a sole that provides grip.

We have a shoe partner and they are called Hoka. So the following text below goes under "advertisement":

But the two guys who work with Hoka shoes in Norway are avid runners themselves (and incidentally winners of Ecotrail Oslo 50, 31 and 21 km)
They say that their recommendations below will actually apply to most distances. But if the conditions are dry, you might be able to afford to choose a little more road-oriented, especially for 10km.

Regardless,

Tecton X 2 / Tecton X is their top recommendation. And then they add a couple of other options that may be relevant:

Tecton X 2 / Tecton X
Here you get a shoe packed with features that are perfect for Ecotrail. A well-cushioned, yet responsive midsole will take good care of your legs whether you run long or a little shorter. The outsole has 4 mm Vibram Megagrip lugs that ensure good grip on the trails. In addition, this shoe has carbon plates, which will both protect and give you a very good response in your stride. The upper provides good foot support and there is plenty of room for the toes in the front of the last. This shoe was used by the winners of both 50 km and 31 km last year, so there is no doubt that this is a good choice for Ecotrail. You can buy this shoe from Anton Sport during the start number handover!

Mafate Speed 4
Well-cushioned trail shoe with a responsive midsole. With this shoe you are assured of very good grip during the run, and can therefore be a sensible choice if the conditions become wet/slippery. A robust shoe that will take good care of your legs if you run one of the longer distances!

Speedgoat 5
Solid and well-cushioned off-road shoe with very good grip. Speedgoat is a real workhorse in the terrain, and will be a good choice for those who prioritize comfort and stability on the trail. The shoe is so well-cushioned that it will withstand the transport stage the last km on asphalt, even though it is an off-road shoe.

Torrent 3
Do you want a slightly lower shoe and more contact with the ground? Then the Torrent 3 is a good choice! Here we have a light and flexible shoe with a responsive midsole and you get good contact with the ground on the trail. Perhaps especially relevant for the slightly shorter distances.

Registration

Can I get a refund for my entry fee or move it to next year - or to another race?

No, ticket purchases are binding, in line with festivals, theaters, cinemas, etc. You can easily sell your starting number to another person, but you must find it yourself - and this is done by mutual settlement.
See more about this under a separate topic here in the FAQ.

It is also not possible to move to next year, each year has separate registration, budget and number of prizes. The same applies to the other cities Ecotrail Trondheim and Ecotrail Oslo. It is not possible to move registration between cities.

It is important that you read more about this in the event rules.

Registration

Do you have gift cards?

We have gift certificates for every distance!

When you purchase a gift card, you register your own email address. There you will receive the gift card as a PDF and a code that the recipient of the gift card will use when they eventually sign up.

Remember to check your spam folder after you have purchased the gift card! The email with the gift card and code may end up there...

Gift cards are purchased on the registration page. Scroll down on that page and select Gift Cards.

The trail

Is luggage transported from start to finish?

You will be transported one bag from start to finish.
On your start number there is a luggage tag that you tear off and attach to the bag you want to have transported to the finish line.
The number on that tag corresponds to your starting number. At the finish line, a friendly group will be there to find your bag.

Note that for 10 km, the truck leaves with all the bags ten minutes before the start.

At 21 km there are two trucks, one with the bags of the fastest people leaves fifteen minutes before the start. The other leaves at the start.

Otherwise, the trucks will leave from the other starting areas as soon as the start has started.

We are not responsible for the contents of the bag, but we will look after the bag for you. Pack the contents in something waterproof in case of rain!

Start, support, goal

When is the deadline for registration?

Registration is open until race day, as long as it is not sold out.

Registration

Can I register a team/company/multiple participants in one registration against invoice?

Yes, but the company must have more than five registrations and an organization number. Contact us by email or call, and your team/company will receive further instructions. Contact information can be found at the bottom of the website.

Registration

I haven't received a confirmation email for my registration?

It takes a few minutes for the confirmation email to arrive when you register. It usually ends up in your spam folder.

If you do not receive an automatic email from registration, you may have entered the wrong email address.

Experience also shows that those who use HOTMAIL do not receive email, perhaps because the spam filter is strict. If you have another email address, it is recommended that you log in and change to an email address that is not hotmail.
Remember to click update when you have made changes to your profile!

Also check the Participant List if you have not received an email. The Participant List can be found on the same page where you register, scroll down a bit and see Participant Login, Participant List and more.

Still can't find an answer?

If you have gone through the menu and read all the information, but still can't find an answer - get in touch!

You may have to expect a long response time at times. Enquiries also often end up in spam, which can take even longer.

Unfortunately, there is no capacity to follow up with participants individually regarding training, diet, shoes and other equipment.
